There were no gross violations of public order in Kyiv and Donetsk during the last Euro 2012 group matches on Tuesday, the press service of the Ukrainian Interior Ministry has reported.
“There were no gross violations of public order during the football matches in Kyiv and Donetsk,” the Ukraine 2012 Information Center said, citing the ministry’s report.
Law enforcers reported that an unknown fan had called the Sviatoshynske district department of police twice and said he was not satisfied with the result of the England-Ukraine match, and threatened to blow up the Olympiysky National Sports Complex in Kyiv. No suspicious objects were found during the inspection of the stadium.
In addition, security guards of a private firm, which, upon agreement reached with UEFA, is protecting the fan zone in Kyiv, detained a fan who let off smoke bombs. The man was detained by police and taken to the Shevchenkivske district department of police.
The ministry’s spokesperson, Volodymyr Polischuk, told Interfax-Ukraine that up to 20 minor offenses (thefts, loss of documents, etc.) were registered yesterday evening and last night.
