Zeman: Ukraine faces bankruptcy, invasion by Russia

Czech president calls Tymoshenko ‘a pretty blonde with plaits,’ accuses her of hiring contract killers

Liberec, North Bohemia, June 9 (ČTK) — New Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko will face a difficult situation now that the country is threatened with bankruptcy, civil war and Russian invasion, Czech President Miloš Zeman said at a meeting with students in Liberec today.

“The only way to calm down the situation in Ukraine is the decentralization of Ukraine, in other words, pushing through the system of self-rule regions. I believe that is feasible,” Zeman said. “On the other hand, Ukraine is threatened with economic bankruptcy, a civil war and Russian invasion. As a result, he who governs Ukraine will face a situation that is far from easy,” Zeman said.

Up to now, Ukraine has been controlled by various groups of gangsters who enriched themselves through a number of dubious operations, including illegal siphoning off gas from pipelines, Zeman said.

“Of course, there were also groups that did not shun contractual murders. For example, Yulia Tymoshenko, the pretty blonde with plaits, was publicly accused of having hired killers for 20 contractual murders. This is the usual way of communication between local politicians,” Zeman said, referring to Ukraine.

In the past two months, eastern Ukraine has been tormented by a pro-Russian rebellion, which Kyiv says is masterminded by Moscow and to which Kyiv reacted with military “anti-terrorist operations.”

On Sunday, Poroshenko said he wants the fighting to be terminated this week.

On Friday, Poroshenko briefly met his Russian counterpart, Vladimir Putin. They agreed on a quick resumption of the Russian-Ukrainian negotiations.

Zeman today compared Putin to a chess player against whom one must not make any mistakes.

“If you make a mistake, I can be sure he will use it. The advice is simple: One must not make unnecessary mistakes,” Zeman said.
