Yanukovych: Ukraine to study Turkey’s proposal to join LNG terminal project
KYIV, September 13. /UKRINFORM/. Ukraine will consider a proposal for participation in the construction of liquefied natural gas terminal in Turkey, President Viktor Yanukovych said at a press conference with Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan in Kyiv on Thursday.
“We will thoroughly study the issue and will soon get the answer,” he said.
According to him, Turkey’s proposal is attractive, because it can be one of the areas of bilateral cooperation in the energy sector and may help address the problem of diversification of energy supplies to Ukraine. “We believe that this area for our countries is very promising, and this is the theme which, I think, for a long time will be on the agenda of our countries. We will consider how to join our efforts in this area and develop the most efficient energy projects,” said the head of state.
In turn, the Prime Minister of Turkey said that he and the President as heads of the Ukrainian-Turkish High-Level Strategic Council during a meeting on Thursday ordered the economic ministers to study the issue. After the analysis is made, a decision will be taken, he said. “We aim to achieve the best results at the lowest cost,” said Erdogan.
