Yanukovych Interrupts Vacation For Taking Part In Stupka’s Lying-In-State

President Viktor Yanukovych has interrupted vacation for taking part in lying-in-state of Bohdan Stupka, a film and theatre actor, Shevchenko Prize winner, Hero of Ukraine, and artistic director of the Ivan Franko Theatre, President’s press secretary Darya Chepak has told Ukrainian News.

The lying-in-state is taking place in the Ivan Franko National Theatre of Ukrainian Drama in Kyiv.

Upon the end of the ceremony the actor will be buried on the Baikovoe graveyard.

After the last respects to Stupka Yanukovych will return to Crimea, where he is spending a working leave.

As Ukrainian News earlier reported, Stupka died in Kyiv on July 22 at the age of 71.

Stupka was born in the village of Kulykov, Lviv region on August 27, 1941.

Stupka was Ukraine’s Minister of Culture from 1999 to 2001.

From 2001, he was heading the Ivan Franko National Academic Theatre of Drama in Kyiv.
