Wage arrears in Ukraine in June 2012 down by 3.8%

The overall sum of wage arrears in Ukraine decreased by 3.8% in June 2012, to Hr 961.887 million, or 2.8% of the monthly wage fund, the State Statistics Service has said.

At the same time, wage arrears fell by 18.9% over the year.

As the statistics service reported, the highest decreases in the wage backlog in the period were registered in Kyiv region (21.2%), Chernivtsi region (17.3%), Kharkiv region (15.2%), Donetsk region (13.5%), Cherkasy region (7.3%), Volyn and Zhytomyr regions (5.8%), and Rivne region (4.5%).

Last month there was sharp growth in wage arrears in Ternopil region (25.6%), Sevastopol (10.2%), Zaporizhia region (10.2%), Vinnytsia region (7.1%), Sumy region (5.9%), Kherson region (3.5%), Khmelnytsky region (2.1%), and Kyiv (1.7%).

The amount of wage arrears at operating companies, institutions and organizations was UAH 451.993 million, at those that are not economically active it was Hr 58.736 million, and at bankrupt enterprises it was Hr 451.158 million.

The highest wage debts were registered in industry (Hr 585.1 million), real estate (Hr 138.117 million), construction (Hr 98.795 million), transport and communications (Hr 45.522 million), agriculture (UAH 28.122 million), housing and utilities (Hr 26.611 million), trade and repairs of cars, household appliances (Hr 16.44 million), education (Hr 4.771 million), hunting and fishing (Hr 4.547 million), and health care (Hr 4.353 million).
