Unknown men in balaclavas attack Communist Party office in West-Ukrainian … – ITAR

KYIV, November 25. /TASS/. Unknown men in balaclavas and fatigues on Monday attacked the office of the local branch of Ukraine’s Communist Party in the western city of Lutsk, the press service of the Volyn region Interior Department said.

A member of the Communist Party received light injuries in the course of the attack.

An operative group that arrived at the spot after a telephone call established that about ten men wearing fatigues had entered the office and a conflict between Communist Party members and the intruders had broken out.

“As a result, a member of the party received bodily injuries,” Igor Mukovoz, the press officers of the Interior Department said.

The report indicated that the Interior agencies had identified the scope of people who might be involved in the attack but the department said nothing of the motives.

It also said a criminal case citing charges with infliction of light injuries might be opened.

In July, the Ukrainian Ministry of Justice filed a lawsuit with the administrative court in Kyiv demanding a ban on the activity of the Communist Party but the court suspended the hearings until other courts completed the consideration of the party’s claims against the ministry itself and the state registry service.

A coalition agreement signed last week by representatives of five political parties that received seats in the Verkhovna Rada, Ukraine’s parliament, says the new parliamentary coalition will press forward with banning the Communist, Nazi, fascist, and “anti-Ukrainian” propaganda in any forms.

The document also speaks of rounding up the process of “de-Communization” of all spheres of public life in the country.

Simultaneously, the agreement stresses the importance of cultivating the memories about counteraction to totalitarianism, liberation struggle and “the movement for observance of human rights”. Also, it calls for recognizing at state level “the organizations that fought for Ukraine’s independence and human rights” and for denouncing the “totalitarian Communist regime.
