Ukrainians remembering victims of the 1930’s man-made famine

Ukrainians have been remembering the victims of the 1930’s Holodomor genocidal famine. Vigils were held at memorials and homes nationwide.

At the main ceremony at Kyiv’s National Memorial to victims of the Holodomor, candles were lit and a moment of silence observed. President Petro Poroshenko attended the event, alongside other top government and church officials.

The commemorations honour the millions who died during the forced famine organised by the Soviet leadership.
