Ukrainians honour Holodomor famine victims
Vigils nationwide remember those who died under the Soviet’s starvation policy
Ukraine is today remembering the victims of the 1930’s Holodomor famine.
Vigils are being held at memorials and homes nationwide. The annual day commemorates the victims of the man-made famine designed by the Soviet leadership. These pictures are from this morning in the city of Zaporizhia.
Kyiv’s National Memorial to victims of the Holodomor will host the main ceremony – Ukraine’s top officials and church leaders are attending.
A minute of silence will be held nationwide at 4 pm (Kyiv time).
