Ukrainian Woman Who Escaped From Captivity In Syria Plans To Return To …
Ankhar Kochneva, the Ukrainian citizen who recently escaped from captivity in Syria, plans to return to Syria in early April.
Kochneva announced this at a press conference in Kyiv.
“I am flying to Moscow tomorrow (March 20) to [see] my child and friends. I will go to see doctors … and to Syria in two weeks,” said Kochneva.
According to her, she intends to continue her work when she returns to Syria, but she will be more careful in public places.
She also plans to write a guidebook for Damascus (Syria).
As Ukrainian News earlier reported, Kochneva returned to Ukraine on March 18.
Earlier, Kochneva said that she planned to return to Syria despite the existence of a threat to her life there.
The Syrian Ministry of Foreign Affairs handed Kochneva over to the Ukrainian embassy in Syria on March 12.
The Ukrainian Foreign Affairs Ministry said on November 13, 2012, that rebels with the Free Syrian Army had sent to Ukraine certain demands for release of Kochneva.
