Ukrainian steel output in February dips by 7.7pct YoY

Bloomberg, quoting metal and mining researcher PromZovnishEkspertyza, reported that Ukraine steel output in February declined by 7.7% YoY to 2.46 million tonnes compared with a year earlier.

Mr Pavlo Perkonos an analyst at the Kyiv based researcher said average daily steel output in the first two months of the year declined by 6.1% YoY.

He said that “Ukrainian plants continue to adjust production of steel to declining global demand.”

The researcher said ZAO Donetsky Electrometallurgical Plant cut output by 70% in February due to disrupted scrap metal supply.

Metinvest Enakyivsky Metalurgiyny Zavod increased production by more than 80%.

According to PromZovnishEkspertyza steel exports from Ukraine declined in January by 11% YoY to 1.14 million tonnes compared with the same month a year ago.
