Ukrainian military forces

A Court in Kyiv dismissed the appeal filed by the Russian air carrier S7 Airlines (Siberia). The airline filed an appeal against the court decision that did not find guilty Ukrainian military forces for the TU-154 plane crash in 2001.

The aircraft headed from Tel Aviv to Novosibirsk crashed in October 2001. All 66 passengers and 12 crew members died.

TheInterstate Aviation Committee came to the conclusion that the aircraft flying above the Black sea was taken down by a rocket launched by Ukrainian military forces that were training that day in Crimea: they confused theplane with a training target.

After a while, Ukraine paid out the amount of $200,000 to the victims’ families before the investigation results were announced. A Kyiv court atthe beginning of September 2011 dismissed the claim for $15 million dollars filed by the Russian air carrier back in 2004.
