Ukrainian government offers east a little more freedom which they will probably …

April 12 2014

Kyiv, Ukraine – There are almost always two positions to take when people get upset and agitated. One position is to push back, to fight fire with fire and hope that your strength is enough to overwhelm the other side. The second position is to be reasonable and to confront things with a calm demeanour and rational talk, hoping that something can be done without any fighting.

Thus far Ukraine has really not done much of either when it comes to the many troubles plaguing them. They have certainly lashed out at Russia for everything they did in Crimea and they did take some action to unseat activists inside government buildings in the east of the country, but they have done little one could class as definitive.

Now it appears they are starting to move towards such a thing, to do something a little more definitive and instead of going with force, which most probably assumed they would do, they have decided to make concessions and will try to be reasonable with activists, something that in Ukraine seems to only incite more rebellion, something the government surely does not want.

“In the framework of the changed constitution, we will be able to satisfy specific requests of every single region,” said interim Prime Minister Arseniy Yatsenyuk after making separatists offers of this and that and the other thing in multiple eastern cities.

Those activists responded by seizing even more government buildings, moves not dissimilar to what the activists in Kyiv did when the leader offered concessions and wanted to be reasonable just a few months ago.

Thus far, the activists have not said anything about the offer but most expect a rejection because the government did not offer them self-rule and the ability to join Russia which is what they actually want.

“It’s kind of funny, really, that things that happened in Kyiv are now happening in Donetsk and other cities, really it’s the same kind of movement, though of course with bad guys, terrible people, people who like Russia and everything, but still basically the same thing,” said Scrape TV International analyst Gustav Hander. “Because of that the government should have an idea of how to deal with them but it does seem that they are doing the exact same things the former President did for them, offered them deals and concessions and the like, and we saw how well that worked out for him.

The former President was chased out of office, literally, and an unelected government took charge of the nation, something which is true whether they are good or bad people.

“The whole country is a mess really, but I guess that was to be expected. It is Ukraine after all and I doubt that anyone would have expected much more from them than this, it had to be a mess, Ukraine is always a mess which is why it is always wrapped up in stupid stuff like this,” continued Hander. “I doubt that these offers will do anything good for them and they should have learned from their own actions that making concessions does not work. Force doesn’t work either, nothing works in Ukraine, that place is just screwed up.”

Ukrainian officials may or may not use force if this doesn’t work, even they don’t know what they will do yet.
