Ukrainian Defense Minister: We Are Ready to Develop Cooperation with NATO
14:39 GMT, July 25, 2012 KYIV | Ukrainian Defense Minister Dmytro Salamatin met with General Richard Shirreff, the Deputy Supreme Allied Commander Europe, within an official visit of NATO delegation to Ukraine.
The parties discussed the current state and prospects of cooperation of the Ukrainian Armed Forces and NATO.
Dmytro Salamatin stressed that the Ukrainian Armed Forces are opened for cooperation with the Alliance in many areas.
“NATO experience is valuable for us. The more we explore, the more effective we will act as part of multinational units in joint missions and operations,” said Dmytro Salamatin.
Deputy Supreme Allied Commander, General Richard Shirreff thanked the Ukrainian Defense Minister and wished him success on the way of reforming of the Ukrainian Armed Forces.
“You’ve started a great job reforming the Ukrainian Armed Forces. We are ready to provide you a full support and help along this way,” said General Richard Shirreff.
