Ukrainian and French builders to construct metro in Baku for AZN 600 million

An initial agreement on the construction of underground facilities in Baku by Ukrainian specialists has been reached at a meeting of the Azerbaijani-Ukrainian Intergovernmental Commission on Economic Cooperation, held in Kyiv on 14 November.

Governmental sources say that the contract between the Baku Metro Department and Ukrainian builders is scheduled for signing in January.

” Under the contract, Ukrainian company Interbudmontazh and its French partner Bouyges will construct in Baku a metro station and a 7 km long tunnel. The project will cost AZN 600 million, which will be divided between the two companies,” the source said.

The Ukrainian company claimed for the construction of three stations of the Baku Metro, but it was suggested to start from one station and tunnels.

“The Ukrainian builders are attracted to the underground line to run in an area with heavy geology (floaters). High cost is conditioned by the complexity of the work and involvement of foreign experts,” the source said, Fineko/abc.az reports.
