Yanukovic said that EU should not look down on Ukraine and Kyiv and Brussels should built their relations with it on the principles of equal partnership.

He said that Ukraine is also looking at the possibility of joining the Customs Union of Russia, Belarus and Kazakhstan.

Ukraine will join the inter-state association the terms of which are most beneficial to its national interests, he said.

By now the EU has interrupted talks on the creation of a free trade zone with Ukraine.

The EU finds that the prosecution of former Prime Minister Yulia Tymoshenko is politically motivated.
