Ukraine’s 2011 inflation posts 4.6 percent
KYIV, Jan. 6 (Xinhua) — Inflation in Ukraine ended 2011 on a positive note with an average of 4.6 percent, lower against 9.1 percent in 2010, the State Statistic Service said Friday.
According to the statistic committee, the consumer price index rose 0.2 percent in December from the previous month, and the annual average increase of 4.6 percent was blamed mainly on rising prices of food, fuel and transportation.
In late December, the Ukrainian government lowered its inflation rate forecast for 2011 to 5 percent, down from an earlier prediction of 8.9 percent, and projected inflation for 2012 at 7.9 percent.
