Ukraine willing to negotiate Donbas settlement in various formats – presidential …
Any formats of negotiations on settling the situation in eastern Ukraine are acceptable to Kyiv, says Valeriy Chaly, a deputy Ukrainian presidential chief of staff.
“Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko proposed a Weimar format at today’s meeting with the German foreign minister, because we want to deepen interaction with Poland, which is our traditional partner. And we are looking for options in which our allies with a clearer position would sit at the [negotiating] table,” Chaly said in an interview shown on Channel Five on Tuesday evening.
Ukraine has not refused to participate in the Geneva negotiating format, and a proposal on such a meeting was worked on before Russia decided not to take part in it, he said.
“We are okay with any formats that enable us to be not one on one [with Russia], because we need support,” he said.
