Ukraine Violates Minsk Truce, Hundreds of Mercenaries in Donbass

03 de enero de 2016, 09:49Kyiv, Jan 3 (Prensa Latina) Ukraine violates the Minsk agreements with the mobilization of hundreds of foreign mercenaries near the line of separation between its troops and the militias, confirmed today a source of the insurgent Donetsk People”s Republic (DPR).

Eduard Basurin, deputy chief of the militia in DPR, said that hundreds of mercenaries from Poland, Georgia and Turkey are operating in Nikolaevka and Pischevik.

With the signing on November 3, 2015 of a law that allows foreign citizens to serve in the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the President Petro Poroshenko breached one of the points agreed in Minsk on February 12, 2015, which provides ‘the withdrawal of all foreign forces’.

The increased presence of foreigners in the Armed Forces and other martial groups, reduces the need of the call to military service of Ukrainian citizens, concludes the presidential text, which ignores one of the Minsk agreements.

According to the Donetsk News Agency (DNA), in the past 48 hours the Army of Kyiv breached the ceasefire in Donbass (southeastern Ukraine) with the use of mortars and artillery.

Meanwhile, Andrei Lysenko, spokesman for the punitive operation launched by Ukraine since April 2014 against the population of Donbass, accused the militants of making 42 bombings against the positions of the government’s contingent.

Since last September, both sides agreed to strengthen the armistice, and since then was observed a decrease in clashes, but with accusations of sporadic violations of the ceasefire.

The conflict caused by the coup of February 22, 2014 in Kyiv has already left more than 9.000 dead people, about 20,000 wounded and more than two million displaced.
