Ukraine unveils Kharkov arena design for EuroBasket 2015
KYIV, May 20 (Xinhua) — Ukraine on Monday unveiled the project of its 6,200-seat arena in the eastern city of Kharkov which will host matches of the EuroBasket 2015 European Basketball Championship.
“We are building a multipurpose arena that will meet international and European standards,” Kharkov mayor Gennady Kernes told reporters during the “Kharkov-Arena” project presentation ceremony.
Private investors will spend around 44 million U.S. dollars to build the stadium and to develop infrastructure around it, Kernes said.
Situated in the heart of the city, “Kharkov-Arena” will be equipped to host different sports competitions as well as concerts and other public events, he said.
The “Kharkov-Arena” will be one of six venues for the EuroBasket finals in September 2015. Kyiv, Odessa, Lviv, Dnepropetrovsk and Donetsk are the other five Ukraine cities hosting matches.
