Ukraine squad suffers mystery illness ahead of Euro 2012

Kyiv, June 8(ANI): Ukraine football team has been confounded by a mystery illness, which has threatened to derail their Euro 2012, which starts on June 8.

Ten of coach Oleg Blokhin’s players have been laid low by a stomach upset, with midfielder Anatoly Tymoshchuk being treated on a drip.

“Tymoshchuk is still in a bad condition, we have him on a drip. The situation is far from funny,” The Daily Express quoted Blokhin, as saying.

Ukraine suffered a 2-0 defeat against Turkey on Tuesday, and there are fears some players may not recover in time for the finals.

Blokhin’s men face Sweden in their opening match in Kyiv on Monday, with England playing them in Donetsk on June 19. (ANI)
