Ukraine ready to supply eastern regions with aid – Poroshenko

Russia has sent 18 illegal ‘humanitarian convoys’ into Ukraine

Ukraine is ready to supply eastern regions of the country controlled by Russian forces with humanitarian aid, Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko said in a news briefing on Tuesday in Kyiv.

Poroshenko made the statement following a meeting with Romanian President Klaus Iohannis, during which the two discussed the conflict in eastern Ukrain.

Petro Poroshenko, Ukrainian President: “Ukraine has withdrawn the heavy equipment and weapons in accordance to the procedure established by the OSCE (Organisation for Security and Cooperation in Europe). Ukraine is ready to facilitate the resolution of the humanitarian issues of the occupied territories of certain areas of the Donetsk and Luhansk regions, but, unfortunately, rebels supported by Russia do not allow either Ukrainian nor European Union humanitarian convoys.”

Russia, which Kyiv and the West accuse of orchestrating the conflict has sent 18 illegal convoys with ‘humanitarian aid’ to the Donetsk and Luhansk region.

Moscow denies direct military participation in the conflict inspite of unequivocal evidence which proves Russia invaded and occupies larges swathes of Ukrainian territory.
