Ukraine Passes Bill to Change Administrative Borders Within Luhansk Region
KYIV, October 7 (RIA Novosti) – The Ukrainian parliament passed a bill Tuesday to change administrative borders within the volatile Luhansk Region, which declared independence in May.
The bill was supported by 236 lawmakers with at least 226 votes required to pass it.
Ukrainian president’s envoy to the parliament, Ruslan Kniazevych, earlier said the move was necessary to improve social services in some of the region’s districts that are under the Kyiv government’s control.
