Ukraine Joins Horizon 2020 To Work With EU In Science And Research
Ukraine has signed an agreement to join Horizon 2020, the European Union’s EUR80 billion research funding program, enabling researchers, businesses and innovators in the country to fully participate on equal terms with EU Member States and other associated countries.
The Agreement for the Association of Ukraine to Horizon 2020 was signed Friday in Kyiv by Carlos Moedas, European Commissioner for Research, Science and Innovation, and Serhiy Kvit, Ukraine’s Minister of Education and Science.
This is the first EU program in which Ukraine has chosen to participate following the beginning of the provisional application of the EU-Ukraine Association Agreement. New funding for research and innovation will open up new opportunities for Ukrainian research institutions, universities and businesses to support the country’s economic development.
Moedas said Ukraine will now have access to the full spectrum of activities funded under Horizon 2020, helping spur its economy.
