Ukraine Harvested 15.9 Million Tons of Grains, Researcher Says

Ukraine’s farmers harvested
15.9 million metric tons of grain this season to July 20,
agricultural researcher UkrAgroConsult said.

Average grain yields declined to 2.22 tons a hectare (2.47
acres) from 2.89 tons a hectare a year earlier, the Kyiv-based
researcher said in e-mailed statement today.

Wheat, including winter and spring crop, accounted for
10.6 million tons with an average yield of 2.46 tons a hectare,
according to the researcher. The barley harvest was 4.7 million
tons with an average yield 1.85 tons a hectare.

Grain was harvested from 7.2 million hectares this season
compared with 6.69 million hectares a year earlier, the
researcher said.
