Ukraine Displeased: US Supplying Kyiv With Outdated Military Equipment
The United States reportedly has provided Ukraine with military equipment worth 260 million dollars. However, according to the Ukrainian army, the material has been found to be totally useless, the newspaper reported.
The Ukrainian military claimed that the military vehicles were outdated. Moreover, a Ukrainian infantry unit of about 120 men received only one bulletproof vest.
According to reports, Ukrainian military forces have to use US Humvees from the late 1980s and early 1990s. Three of them have doors and windows made of plastic which virtually provide no protection. The tires of the vehicles exploded after a few hundred kilometers which came as a result of long storage in a warehouse, the Washington Post wrote, citing a Ukrainian mechanic.
The quality of the US military equipment has caused distrust among Ukrainian troops and has negatively affected the soldier’s morale. US Pentagon officials have justified the supply of the second-hand military items as a result of the US’s unpreparedness for the Ukrainian conflict.
