Kyiv, September 11 (Interfax-Ukraine) – The UDAR Party still hopes to reach an understanding with the opposition to agree on single candidates in single-member constituencies, UDAR Party leader Vitali Klitschko has said.
“There is still time to win elections in districts for people who defend the interests of the regions in which they are running for MP, but in no case cooperate with the authorities and do not represent the current government,” he said at a press conference at Interfax-Ukraine on Tuesday.
He said that for this purpose the UDAR Party had initiated the creation of a public council that would include public figures, political scientists, human rights activists and journalists.
“We’re putting forward such a proposal, and I hope that we will soon get an answer from the opposition. I hope the answer will be positive, because the public council will include representatives of society, rather than representatives of political parties. We can be s objective as possible on this basis,” he said.
