Recent data compiled by momondo.com, a travel metasearch engine that enables users to find and compare prices on airplane tickets, hotels and cars, reveal that Ukraine is the most popular destination for Turks thinking of spending New Year’s Eve abroad.
Turkish media reported on Friday about a survey conducted by momondo.com to find out where Turks want to spend the New Year holiday by analyzing flight searches by Turks. The survey reveals that domestically, the most desirable destination is İstanbul, while Ukrainian capital Kyiv is the most popular internationally.
The data show that following İstanbul, in terms of domestic destinations Turkish nationals have most regularly searched for flights to İzmir and Ankara. While Antalya province is the favorite domestic touristic destination for the New Year holiday, Trabzon is the preferred city for family holidays.
After Kyiv, Turks planning to spend their New Year holiday abroad have searched most often for flights to Ercan Airport in the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (KKTC) and Berlin. Serbian capital Belgrade is the fourth most preferred destination. Amsterdam, which was the favorite international destination for Turks during the last Eid al-Adha (Feast of the Sacrifice) holiday according to data from momondo.com, came fifth, followed by Rome, Paris and Vienna.
Dubai, at ninth, was the only country in the top 10 located in Arabian Peninsula. Another Ukrainian city, Lviv, is the 10th most sought-after destination of Turks for the New Year holiday.
