Turchynov implicates Russia in Maidan deaths
Secretary of Ukraine’s National Security and Defense Council blames Kremlin for Kyiv killings
More than a dozen Russian secret service agents suspected of committing crimes during last year’s EuroMaidan Revolution have been positively identified, according Oleksandr Turchynov, Secretary of Ukraine’s National Security and Defense Council.
Turchynov repeated the allegation in an exclusive interview with Ukraine’s 1+1 tevision channel.
Ukraine’s main military prosecutor’s office has reportedly handed over court documents to the Russian embassy in Kyiv linked to the investigation. Ukraine’s State Security Service head last week also accused Russia of directly orchestrating the killing of anti-government protesters and police in central Kyiv on February 20, 2014:
“The General Prosecutor’s Office and Ukraine’s Security Services have found a direct link to Russia’s part in the shooting of Maidan protesters. Now investigators have access to the records of phone conversations between former President Yanukovych and Russia’s Federal Security Service. Together they planned the shootings.”
Russian officials, including Russian President Vladimir Putin, have said the claims that Russia was involved in the Maidan massacre are baseless.
