Newcastle have upped their bid for West Brom ace Saido Berahino, according to Sky Sports News.
It’s thought the Magpies have lodged a formal offer believed to be around £21m with the Baggies.
If the deal were to go through, it would eclipse the £16m record fee paid for Michael Owen in 2005.
Berahino, 22, has also been heavily linked with title chasing Tottenham.
