KYIV, December 2. /TASS/. The trade turnover between Russia and Ukraine has decreased four-fold over the last 2 years, Ukraine’s President Pyotr Poroshenko said on Wednesday, adding that this badly influenced the country’s producers.
“The embargo and anti-Ukraine sanctions have been virtually in place since 2013, and it’s the sanctions that pushed the trade turnover between Ukraine and Russia down four-fold,” Poroshenko said.
He added that as of today the trade turnover between the two countries “stands not at billions of dollars but at hundreds of millions, which is painful for our producers.”
On November 27, First Deputy Agricultural Policy and Food Minister of Ukraine Yaroslav Krasnopolsky said that the trade turnover between Ukraine and Russia plunged by 69.4% in first 10 months of 2015 compared with the same period last year. “This is an almost 1 billion dollar decrease compared with the same period last year. Now it stands at $456 mln,” he said.
