Top diplomats from central European countries give their support to new Ukraine …
KYIV, Ukraine – The new government of Ukraine has won the support of leading countries in Central Europe.
In a trip co-ordinated with the European Union, the foreign ministers of the Czech Republic, Hungary and Slovakia and deputy Foreign Minister of Poland met Friday in Kyiv with Ukraine’s new Prime Minister Arseniy Yatsenyuk and Foreign Minister Andriy Deshchitsya.
In a statement, Czech Foreign Minister Lubomir Zaoralek said they told their Ukrainian counterpart that they were there to “support the government which was just created.”
They also assured Vitali Klitschko, a popular opposition leader, of their interest in maintaining Ukraine’s territorial integrity.
The new Ukraine government was formed earlier this week after weeks of protests against President Viktor Yanukovych, who has fled the country and is currently in Russia.
