The Heat: UN reacts to Russia-Ukraine crisis – CCTV
Kyiv warns it’s on the brink of full-scale war with Moscow. And, Russian President Vladimir Putin is proposing “statehood” for the Eastern regions now controlled by separatists.
European Union leaders gave Russia a week from Sunday to reverse course in Ukraine or face a new round of sanctions.
The decision came as Ukraine’s military said coast guard vessels were attacked from a beach front in the village of Bezimenne. A fierce battle also took place for control of the airport in the rebel stronghold of Luhansk. And there’s growing concern the conflict could expand west to Mariupol and toward Crimea.
Talks are also underway in Minsk, as pro-Russia separatists request “special status” to stay part of Ukraine.
For more updates on this issue, we talked with our correspondents in Russia and Ukraine, CCTV’s Tom Barton and Kate Parkinson.
To discuss the latest crisis about accusations that Russia has invaded Ukraine, we were joined by Ukraine’s Ambassador to NATO, Ihor Dolhov, from Brussels.
The discussion continued with former journalist and advisor to the Kremlin, Alexander Nekrassov, from London.
