Switzerland willing to receive Yulia Tymoshenko for treatment

Switzerland is willing to accept for treatment Ukrainian ex-Prime Minister Yulia Tymoshenko, serving time in prison in Kharkov. This was stated by the head of the Swiss Federal Department of Foreign Affairs Didier Burkhalter, who admitted Bern was in contact with Kyiv over the Tymoshenko case.

Burkhalter also expressed doubt that the Tymoshenko case was worth boycotting next month’s European Football Championship hosted by Poland and Ukraine.

Earlier it was reported that members of the European Commission decided to boycott the event hosted by Ukraine over the ill-treatment, in their opinion, of Yulia Tymoshenko.

The matches will also be given a miss by members of the government of Austria, the Netherlands and, possibly, Germany.
