Steinmeier discusses crisis with Ukrainian PM

German foreign minister Frank-Walter Steinmeier is in Kyiv, discussing the Ukraine crisis with the country’s top leaders.

During a press conference with Ukrainian Prime Minister Arseny Yatsenyuk ealier today, Steinmeier said he will next head to Moscow to hold talks with President Vladimir Putin. Steinmeier’s visit comes amid rising violence in eastern Ukraine. Kyiv and the West have accused Russia of sending soldiers and weapons over the border to help anti-Kyiv rebels, which Moscow denies.

On Monday, Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko said in an online post that his country is prepared for “total war” against Russia, fighting for EU values.
