Speedway: Two new faces for Potters

STOKE Easy Rider Potters have made two changes to their line-up with Matt Bates and Liam Rumsey arriving at Loomer Road.

Adam Wrathall’s broken wrist, which he sustained in the defeat at Dudley last week, has ruled him out for the remainder of the National League season.

And the Potters’ management quickly snapped up 23-year-old Bates, who has previous experience with Newport, Weymouth, Mildenhall, Plymouth and Oxford.

Potters team manager Malcolm Vasey said: “When we heard that Adam had broken his wrist and was out for the rest of the season we had to move quickly and we are delighted to welcome Matt Bates to Loomer Road.

“We, of course, wish Adam all the best for a speedy recovery and hope to see him back on track soon.”

In a further change the Potters have moved to acquire the services of 23-year-old Rumsey.

He has previously ridden for the Isle of Wight and King’s Lynn and comes into the line up at reserve to replace Ross Walter.

Vasey added: “I’ve seen Liam a few times this season and he has made a significant improvement.

“He has been on our radar for quite a while and he is coming to Loomer Road to continue his development and make further improvement between now and the end of the season.

“Ross is not severing his links with us and will remain at the club and may possibly return in the future, but we felt we had to do something to improve the team.

“We fully appreciate that Ross was riding at number four which is a very difficult position to ride, but we felt we had to do something.”
