The dismissal of Andriy Kliuyev as first vice premier and economic development and trade minister will not affect the situation with the signing of the Association Agreement with the European Union, a source in the Foreign Ministry of Ukraine has told Interfax-Ukraine.

“The negotiations on the free trade area, which were supervised by Kliuyev, were completed last year. That is why personnel reshuffles cannot influence this document,” the source said.

He added that legal work on the document and its approval with the European side are being carried out.

“This work is being conducted by experts, and is monitored by the governmental envoy for the European integration of Ukraine, Valeriy Piatnytsky,” the source said.

As reported, on Feb. 14 Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych dismissed Andriy Kliuyev as First Vice Premier and Economic Development and Trade Minister of Ukraine.

By another decree, the head of state appointed Kliuyev secretary of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine in place of Raisa Bohatyriova.

Kliuyev was in charge of the negotiations on the agreement on association and a free trade area.
