Regarding the deepening crisis in eastern Ukraine FOCUS News Agency talks with Prof. Nina Dyulgerova, a professor in Varna Free University Chernorizets Hrabar

FOCUS: Prof. Dyulgerova in the town of Slavyansk was erected Ukrainian flag, does this mean that Poroshenko’s policy gives effect?
Nina Dyulgerova: In each war things are different. Today is waving Ukrainian flags tomorrow – Russian again. Another bloodshed which was renewed with another order of Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko to continue the offensive in the east, has timed objectives. One is before July 8, when it will be held the meeting in Brussels between the EU and Ukraine to negotiate international financial assistance, he [Petro Poroshenko] to report full control of the Russian-Ukrainian border. The second is to clear the field quickly for the exploration and development of shale gas near Slavyansk for American companies. Third – rapid privatization of the Ukrainian gas transition system before July 16, when the EU member states will announce their nominations for EU Commissioners. The deadline to prevent the construction of South Stream gas pipeline is around that date as well.

FOCUS: Is there a possibility and probability Russia to invade in Ukraine, as according to Ukrainian institutions it is very likely to happen, although Russia rejects such intentions?
Nina Dyulgerova: This is a complex issue. It is used for speculations. The fact is that both NATO and the Russian Federation are currently conducting military drill in the Black Sea. Russia also stopped sending in Ukraine of weapons and military equipment from the Crimea, which supplies the Ukrainian Army and National Guards. In recent weeks, however, they are actively arming by the Americans and by Eastern European countries. Russia can enter eastern Ukraine only with a peacekeeping mission but the UN will not give it mandate for doing so. It is more likely the global players to agree on the Russia’s role in pacifying the crumbling Middle East.

FOCUS: The so-called terrorists from Slayansk moved in Kramatorsk and Artyomosvk – why do they act that way?
Nina Dyulgerova: According to official data from Kyiv, Krematorsk is also under the control of the Ukrainian military. These messages are part of the military propaganda and may be considered as retreat or as a temporary victory for the anti-terrorist army. Dynamics is very big in order to make long-term conclusions.

FOCUS: The situation in eastern Ukraine is deteriorating, what are the explanations and why no actions helped to resolve the crisis?
Nina Dyulgerova: US-inspired Ukrainian crisis is not intended to be solved quickly and efficiently. It is a war of American transnational (especially energy) corporations against Russia. The aim is to tap the Ukrainian gas transition system, liquidation of industry in Eastern Ukraine, which will allow European and American companies to have no competition in the management of the industrial area, but also by the military forces of this East European country the United States to border with Russia.
