Kyiv, Dec 10 (EFE) .- A member of the Ukrainian special forces and a Russian citizen were killed during a security operation to dismantle a Russian sabotage group in the Ukrainian capital, according to Ukraine Security Service.
As a result of the security operation carried out on Wednesday night, two Russian citizens and three Ukrainians were detained, the spokeswoman of the service Olena Glitianska posted on Facebook, noting that the group acted in Kyiv and other cities.
According to the spokeswoman, the operation resulted in the death of a Russian citizen, who showed armed resistance and wounded two members of the Ukrainian security forces, one of whom died later in hospital.
In one of the apartments, eight homemade explosive devices, four kilograms of TNT, automatic weapons, over forty hand grenades, ammunition and bomb-making components were found, according to Glitianska.
Kyiv authorities accuse Moscow of helping with weapons the pro-Russian separatists who control eastern regions of Donetsk and Lugansk, in addition to sending troops, something which Russia denies.
According to the latest United Nations figures, in 20-months of conflict more than 9,000 people have died in eastern Ukraine, which is currently under a cease-fire.
