Russia’s Duma speaker warns about possible military provocations in Donbass

MOSCOW, February 11./TASS/. Russian State Duma lower house Speaker Sergey Naryshkin said on Thursday the threat of military provocations by Kyiv in Ukraine’s embattled Donbass persisted.

“Unfortunately, the threat of new military provocations in Donbass, without the hope of a military victory but just for propaganda purposes – this threat still persists,” the speaker told a session of the working group analyzing legislative procedures and enactments adopted in Ukraine.

“Why is Kyiv reluctant to say that the Minsk agreements have reduced the degree of tension in the east of Ukraine and helped to sharply decrease casualties?” he asked in this connection.

“Maye because this is the fact that prevents them from whipping up hysteria and accentuates lack of options to the Minsk process,” the speaker said.
