Russian official notes Western aid is pictured as Kyiv’s diplomatic victory

MOSCOW, February 11. /TASS/. Russian State Duma Speaker Sergey Naryshkin has noted Kyiv’s tendency to picture Western aid as its diplomatic victories.

“Military fog is dissipating for most Ukrainians, and they are starting to think why all of this was started and why it still continues,” Naryshkin told a session of the working group on legal procedures and legal acts adopted in Ukraine. “Such questions will be raised more frequently, especially considering the fact that another anniversary is ahead – the anniversary of the armed seizure of power in February 2014,” the Duma speaker noted.

“We see how Ukrainian leaders are fervently searching for successes to cover up in front of their people, in front of Ukrainians,” he added. “In reality, of course, there are no successes, they are only failures. Kyiv paints any benevolent nod or hand-out from Western capitals or another Russophobic gaffe in the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe, for instance, as a ‘great diplomatic victory’,” Naryshkin concluded.
