Rozetka.ua challenging accusations of tax evasion worth over UAH 7 m in court

The top management of Kyiv-based Rozetka.ua LLC is challenging in court the accusations by tax authorities of tax evasion worth over UAH 7 million, according to State Tax Service Chief Oleksandr Klymenko.
“No negotiations are being held… There were checks during which tax risks were worked out. The tax authorities’ position is described in acts that were submitted to the company’s management. That position is quite clear and understandable. The company has an option to choose: either to agree and pay the additionally charged sum to the budget or challenge the given sum. No negotiations beyond the algorithm I’ve described can take place,” he said.
At the same time, asked whether the management of Rozetka.ua agreed to pay the additionally charged sum, he said: “They will challenge [it in court].”
As was reported, tax officers on April 19, 2012, conducted searches in three offices and three warehouses belonging to Rozetka.ua. Following the checks, the tax authorities brought up an action in keeping with Part 3 of Article 212 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine against the director of Rozetka.ua LLC whose major business is e-commerce.
According to tax officers, the company imported commodities at understated prices, which made it possible for it to earn surplus profit, which was brought into the shadows via the accounts of bogus companies. As a result of this, the national budget lost over UAH 7 million.
As the State Tax Service told Interfax-Ukraine, the case could be closed only in the case of the complete repayment of the loss.
