Report: Stoke City eye late club-record deal for Dynamo Kyiv’s Andriy Yarmolenko
Stoke City have joined Everton in the race for Andriy Yarmolenko.
According to The Sun, Stoke City are eyeing a club-record deal to bring Dynamo Kyiv star Andriy Yarmolenko to the Britannia Stadium ahead of Monday’s transfer deadline.
The report claims that Everton remain heavily keen on the winger yet Stoke are willing to break the bank for his signature, with a figure of £20 million-plus deemed sufficient to get him.
The Ukraine international has long been linked with a move to the Premier League.
Everton are one of those that have tracked him for some time, yet the Toffees have seemingly been reluctant to pay Kyiv’s high asking price for a player who is unproven in the English top-flight.
Stoke, however, are willing to go the extra mile to bring him in with The Sun claiming the Potters are looking at Marko Arnautovic’s contract situation amid fears of losing him this summer.
Yarmolenko has international pedigree with Ukraine, while his performances in both the Europa League and the Champions League in years gone by have been extremely impressive.
That said, his side’s progression to the Champions League knockout stages – where they face Manchester City – could prove a stumbling block in any potential move to England now.
Stoke were also linked with Yarmolenko’s international teammate Yevhen Konoplyanka, however they ultimately missed out on his signature after he opted to join Sevilla on a free last summer.
Would Andriy Yarmolenko be a good option for Stoke City?
