A total of 7,000 kiosks in Kyiv have currently been granted permission to work, Head of Kyiv City State Administration Oleksandr Popov has said.

“Seven thousand kiosks have currently received permission to work and paid tens of millions of hryvnias to the budget. With respect to other kiosks that were not registered, we will conduct a campaign on their removal,” he said during a phone line in Kyiv on Monday.

Popov said that Kyiv would gradually conduct a campaign to legalize the work of kiosks and remove those that are operating illegally.

As reported, on January 26, 2012, Kyiv City Council took a decision that would help legalize the activities of kiosks in the Ukrainian capital. According to the decision, kiosks in Kyiv will operate until January 1, 2013 if their owners sign agreements on the payment of a share in the development of the city’s facilities. The owners had to sign such agreements by April 1.
