Polish Foreign Minister Radosław Sikorski says his country supports Ukraine’s EU bid. According to the minister, the European Union is still ready to sign the cooperation agreement with Ukraine.
Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych refused to sign the document during the Vilnius summit of the Eastern Partnership. The move immediately caused a popular uprising in the Ukrainian capital of Kyiv. Tensions increased after police broke up a rally on Independence Square.
The protesters captured Kyiv City Hall on Sunday afternoon and are now storming the residence of the presidential staff.
