The police have seized the arsenal of weapons from four members of a criminal organized gang suspected of kidnapping in Kyiv, the Ministry of Internal Affairs said in the press-release.
These are seven firearms, in particular, two Kalashnikovs, four guns, a short rifle; more than 800 bullets, baseball bats and masks, the press-release noted.
The gang leader was a Euromaidan activist, the press-release stressed.
“The police are checking the information on gang’s supplying the weapons to the protesters of the so-called Euromaidan based on the evidence obtained,” the press-release said.
In addition, the gang members kidnapped a 22-year-old Kyivan in December 2013.
The suspects demanded UAH 2 million ransom and freed the hostage after receiving the money, the press-release said.
As Ukrainian News reported, the Interior Ministry’s Department of Combating Organized Crime seized the arsenal of weapons from a 27-year-old Luhansk resident on January 22.
