Culture Ministry Appoints Mykhailyna Director General Of Kyiv-Pechersk Reserve

The Ministry of Culture has appointed Liubomyr Mykhailyna director general of the National Kyiv-Pechersk Historic and Cultural Reserve, an employee of the Kyiv-Pechersk Reserve told Ukrainian News.

Mykhailo Kulyniak, the minister of culture, introduced the newly-appointed director general to the staff on September 5, the employee noted.

According to the minister, Mykhailyna’s candidacy was discussed in the meeting of the National Reserve’s supervisory board on August 31 and did not arouse any controversy.

Mykhailyna, 59, had previously run the Khotyn Fortress State Historical and Architectural Reserve (Chernivtsi region).

As Ukrainian News reported, the Ministry of Culture dismissed Viktoria Lesna from the post of the director general of the National Kyiv-Pechersk Historic and Cultural Reserve on August 9 because of gross violation of labor laws and the terms of the contract between her and the ministry.

On August 2, the Prosecutor General’s Office (PGO) tasked the Ministry of Internal Affairs with verifying the claim lodged by Vlada Prokayeva (Lytovchenko), the former adviser to the minister of family, youth and sports, the head of the Gifted Children are Ukraine’s Future Charitable Foundation, over an alleged bribe to Minister of Culture Kulyniak for the post of assistant director general at the National Kyiv-Pechersk Historic and Cultural Reserve.
