Peter Crouch Relishing Valencia Europa League Clash

Thursday, 16th February, 2012

Stoke City striker Peter Crouch has insisted that the Potters are not worried about facing Valencia in the Europa League later today.

Despite having impressed in European competition so far, Stoke will take to the pitch for the first leg of their Round of 32 tie against the Spaniards as underdogs, with Los Che comfortably La Liga’s third best team.

But while Crouch accepts that the match will be a difficult one, the former Liverpool striker is confident the Potters have what it takes to live with their illustrious opponents.

“It’s going to be incredibly tough, we know that, but Valencia don’t hold any fears for us”, said Crouch.

“We have already met some top European sides at the Britannia Stadium this season and done well in all of them, beating Tottenham Hotspur and Liverpool, while also giving a good account of ourselves in draws with Chelsea and Manchester United.

“On top of that, we have also performed well in our European games so far when we’ve met some top opposition in Hadjuk Split, Besiktas and Dynamo Kyiv.”

Valencia will arrive at the Britannia Stadium fresh off a 4-0 drubbing of Sporting Gijon in La Liga, while Stoke enter the fray on a run of five Premier League games without a win.
