OSCE observation mission will start working in Ukraine since September 10

KYIV, July 24 /UKRINFORM/. OSCE Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights will start work of the International Observation Mission at elections of people’s deputies of Ukraine on September 10 this year.

MFA Spokesperson Oleksandr Dykusarov told a briefing on Tuesday, an UKRINFORM’s correspondent reports.

The Mission’s main group, which will stay in Ukraine since September 10 this year, will include 16 OSCE experts, he said.

According to the diplomat, it is expected that since September 17, 100 long-term observers will come to Ukraine, who will be sent by OSCE participating countries. In addition, approximately in a week before the elections, another 600 short-term observers will come to Ukraine, who will monitor a process of voting directly at electoral districts.

The Great Britain representative, Ambassador Frances Glover is appointed the Mission head. She has already headed the Observation Mission of the OSCE Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights in Ukraine at long-term parliamentary elections in 2007.

As Dykusarov said, during their stay in Ukraine, members of the OSCE Observation Mission are planning to discuss the issues of the electoral process with state institutions, political parties, candidates, as well as representatives of the civil society, mass media and diplomatic corps, accredited in Ukraine.

Ukrainian MFA within the frames of its competence will render all-round assistance to the International Observation Mission of the OSCE Center for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights during the whole period of its work in Ukraine, Dykusarov added.
