One Ukrainian serviceman killed in separatist east: Kyiv military
KYIV (Reuters) – One Ukrainian serviceman was killed and five were wounded in attacks by rebels in eastern Ukraine in the past 24 hours despite a ceasefire agreement with the Russian-backed separatists, a Kyiv military spokesman said on Wednesday.
Attacks have become less frequent in the past two weeks, but Kyiv accuses separatists of using the truce to regroup for possible further offensives.
“The enemy continues to strengthen covertly its groups near the separation line between opposing forces,” spokesman Andriy Lysenko said in a televised briefing.
