Bogus collectors
Police and State Emergency Service (SES) personnel are warning people in the Lismore area to be wary of bogus SES fundraisers.
The NSW SES said there is no flood relief fundraising being conducted at present and they do not doorknock for collections.
The SES advises that when they do run legitimate fundraising activities, callers are clearly identified as being NSW SES volunteers.
Tabulam assault
Police are seeking information about a serious assault on a 60-year-old man in Tabulam on May 16, 2011. Two male offenders assaulted the man as he slept in his bed in Bulldog Road. He was tied and bound before being assaulted further. Detectives from Strike Force Kyiv said significant progress has been made on the investigation, with a number of suspects identified. However they believe tensions within the community are linked to the attack and that people within the Bulldog Road community hold information relevant to the investigation.

Armed robbery
Police are looking for two men involved in an armed robbery at the West Tower Tavern, West Ballina, on Sunday, February 26, at around 10.05pm. The men entered the building after all patrons had left and staff were clearing up. One of the men was armed with an axe and a crowbar, both were dressed in dark clothing and hooded jumpers, with clothing covering their faces. The offenders demanded cash from the staff and used cable ties to tie the victims’ hands behind their backs. The offenders stole a large amount of cash from the office area and safe before both fled the premises on foot. They were last seen running toward the Dan Murphy’s car park.

Arrested
A 17-year-old male was arrested in Spinks Park, Lismore, on Monday morning and charged with an armed robbery, alleged to have been committed at a service station in Alstonville on Friday, February 24.
The man was refused bail and was scheduled to appear in Lismore Children’s Court.
